I, Mrs. Uma Chander, 40 years old, am the founder of the firm Handholding Financials.

I had completed B.Com and MBA in finance. I was always interested in pursuing personal finance and got an opportunity to work for Axis bank (erstwhile UTI Bank) and then HDFC Bank.

However, in the long term I wanted to do something on my own in the field of personal finance wherein the solutions could be provided keeping customer interest in mind.

One of the challenges customers faced in banks was that the Relationship Manager kept changing. Another flaw was that every customer was provided the same product without any difference.

I then became a distributor in Mutual Funds and that’s also when I pursued CFP course which I successfully completed in 2012.

In 2016, I joined Sparrows Sprout. Sparrows Sprout taught me the way we should think and how it is up to us to see things as problems or opportunities. I really enjoyed storytelling and implementing techniques and daily planning.

My message to the bankers is that it is very important to have a good mentor and coach. You need to surround yourself with good work community. Banker life may get monotonous in routine but if you start your own business, slowly and gradually you will build a solid career.

Thank you !
